I was so embarrassed yesterday...

I was in one of my classes and just random talking to the girl next to me. We were talking about the basic stuff like where we are from, etc. Then she said she was from Kazakhstan, and I was like...um...Kazakhstan....can you say that again?? She repeated, and to be honest, I have no idea where it is. She probably realized that I was confused as well, then she politely explained where Kazahstan is. Also, she was so surprised that I did not know where is Kazahstan or did not even know this country. umm....I was embarrassed...and I even asked her if she knew where Taiwan was. She said Taiwan was just as small as a city in her country...well...

I kept thinking what is Kazakhstan...for like five minutes...then I thought it might be 哈薩克...er...it's all about translation@@ whatever...

I feel bad about the whole thing, I mean by not knowing where other people's countries are. I am not saying that we should know everything, but at least we should have common sense...Therefore, I looked it up on the internet.

Kazakhstan is actually ranked as 9th biggest country in the world (in terms of the area), and they speak Kazakh and Russian since they are so close to Russia (actually they are neighbors...). However, the population in Kazakhstan is only about 15.3 million (even less than Taiwan). So, well....this is just some basic fact about this country...

I guess I'd better read more to avoid this kind of embarrassement in the future...
